About
Who am I?
I have been living in Sofia, Bulgaria for a few years now, and I have been passionate about history since I was a child. From the World War I battlefields in Alsace to the World War II bunkers in the south of France, and now to the abandoned Cold War bases here in Bulgaria — history has always been how I spend my free time.
A big fan of flea markets, I started collecting historical objects at the age of 12. Since moving to Sofia, I decided to dedicate all my free time to the subject of the People's Republic of Bulgaria.
Why this website?
After noticing a lack of information and a kind of “taboo” around the People's Republic of Bulgaria here in Bulgaria, I decided in 2023 to create an Instagram page dedicated to my collection: Instagram Page. This way, people from all over the world could learn more about this short historical period (1944–1990).
Then in 2024, as a full-time enthusiast, I built this website to bring together the history of the People's Republic of Bulgaria, my collection, tourist sites to visit, and souvenirs to buy — all in one place.
History can of course be controversial. In creating this site, I tried to be as neutral as possible. As stated, this website has been created for cultural and historical purposes only — it is in no way the tool of any political ideology.
Who is this website for?
This website is for anyone who is deeply interested in history — particularly the Cold War era in the countries of the communist bloc. It is also a useful place for curious visitors who have heard of Bulgaria and would like to visit, or who want to buy a souvenir from the former People's Republic of Bulgaria.
Cold War Bulgaria — My second project
Alongside this website, in 2025 I launched Cold War Bulgaria — a project that started as a real physical museum in the centre of Sofia, dedicated to the history of the Cold War in Bulgaria. Unfortunately, the museum had to close due to a lack of visibility and visitors.
Today, Cold War Bulgaria is being reinvented as a digital platform: digitisation of my collection, e-books, exclusive content, music and more. The goal remains the same — to preserve and share this history with the entire world.
Support the project
This site is an independent project, created and maintained by one person, driven by passion. If you enjoy the content — the history, the collection, the videos or the guided tours — you can buy me a coffee to help keep it going.
