9-IX-1944
- The coup of September 9. Communist partisans supported by the USSR overthrow the royalist power in place then allies of Nazi Germany.
6-XII-1947
- The Georgi Dimitrov Constitution was adopted and was effective until 1971.
20-XII-1949
- Valko Chervenkov succeeded Georgi Dimitrov as general secretary of the communist party until 1954.
28-III-1965
- The “ April Conspiracy “ was exposed on the 28 March 1965. The attempted coup aim to overthrow Todor Zhivkov.
10-IV-1979
- The first Bulgarian cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov was launched into space during the Mission Soyouz 33.
23-IIX-1981
- The monument house of the Bulgarian Communist Party “Buzludzha” was inaugurated.
15-XI-1990

The Assembly voted to change the country's name to Republic of Bulgaria and removed the Communist state emblem from the national flag.
15-IX-1946
- The 1946 Bulgarian Republic Referendum took place and The country was declared a people’s republic.
2-VII-1949
- Georgi Dimitrov died on 2 July 1949 and displayed in the Georgi Dimitrov Mausoleum.
4-III-1954
- Todor Zhivkov succeeded Valko Chervenkov as the head of the communist party. He was the longest serving non-royal ruler in Bulgarian History.
8-V-1971
- The “ Zhivkov Constituion “ was established and was effect until the end of the People’s Republic of Bulgaria.
6-V-1981
- The Bulgarian Nation celebrate her 1300 Years of Existence. For the occasion the biggest Military Parade took place in Sofia.
10-XI-1989
- One day after the fall of the Berlin wall, communist leader Todor Zhivkov was relieved of the post of secretary general of the communist party.
